Xi-Ling is a young courtier just a few years past her gempuku. Her career as a diplomat has been trying, especially since the Khan attempted to take the throne by force. Shunned by the other courtiers of Maigo no Samurai Mura, Xi-Ling did what she could to gather allies, eventually earning back the respect the Khan's campaign had cost her.Her greatest accomplishment was, perhaps, winning the favor of the local Lion delegate, Ikoma Miki. The two became friends despite the animosity of their two Clans, and in a moment of weakness, Xi-Ling agreed to join her friend for a late-night drink. One drink turned to five, then ten, and the next morning Xi-Ling awoke, naked, next to a cuddling Miki.
Their relationship turned awkward, and soon the courts were whispering about how Xi-Ling "seduced" Miki. The Utaku's carefully rebuilt reputation had been ruined, and few courtiers wished to associate with her.
The arrival of Utaku Zhang-yi was a hidden blessing for Xi-Ling. The young battle maiden eventually heard the untrue rumors concerning Xi-Ling's sexuality, and began to court the older woman. Though initially confused by Zhang-yi's behavior, things soon fell into place, and Xi-Ling eventually gave in to the younger woman's determined advances.
After Maigo no Samurai Mura fell, Xi-Ling fled the city alongside Zhang-yi and the other Unicorn. The two Utaku have professed their love for each other, though Xi-Ling has made it clear that her career comes first, putting a slight damper on Zhang-yi's enthusiasm.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the two unlikely lovers.
