A young woman of Utaku heritage, Zhang-yi is of a relatively average height. What skin she shows generally bears a light tan from regular exposure, with her forearms and face getting the brunt of it. Her brown hair is kept cut just below her shoulders to keep it from getting in the Utaku's way. She wears simple kimono that generally shows off a little more than is proper without being overly scandalous and inappropriate.Previously sent to Maigo no Samurai Mura, Zhang-yi was present when the city fell to the combined efforts of undead, gaijin, and the self-destructive management of Mirumoto Otsu. Thankfully, she escaped with the her own life, as well as that of her lover and commanding officer, the courtier Utaku Xi-Ling. After arriving in Yushosha Seido Mura, however, her life took an unexpected turn...
Zhang-yi is currently staying at the Fallen Blossom Inn, where she has fallen into a whirlwind romance with the owner, Shosuro Tishi. It is currently unknown what effect this will have upon her relationship with Xi-Ling.
